In the inaugural Mom Day 5K + Kiddo Dash, supporting maternal mental health on Sunday, May 12th, 2024 (Mother’s Day!) at McNamara Park in Galena, Ohio,

A gathering for all those affected by pregnancy struggles (miscarriages, stillbirths, hyperemesis Gravidarum, infertility and beyond) as well as postpartum struggles (anxiety, depression, isolation and beyond). Family members, caregivers, fur moms and all humankind welcomed! Proceeds raised will be donated to POEM Ohio (Perinatal Outreach and Encouragement for Moms), which offers support, resources, referrals and a sense of community to help moms and birthing persons in Ohio feel heard, understood and empowered.

Did you know postpartum depression and other mental health conditions are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth? More than 30% of new moms & birthing persons experience them, according to POEM. We get to change this, one stride at a time.

All participants who register by April 12th will receive a custom Mom Day 5k tee. Participants who register after the deadline will get a tank on a first come, first serve basis with limited sizes available.

All participants will receive a sweet oversized coffee mug thanks to our swag sponsor, Bibler, Finney and Panfil

Do Good

As noted above, every participant receives an event tee, but Wood St Sports is very proud to offer an exclusive Tee, Tank & Hoody to benefit the event cause! Check out the gear here or choose to add tee while registering.

Steph Bruce

USATF 10K.jpg

Stephanie Bruce is a professional long-distance runner for HOKA NAZ Elite, a business owner, a coach of Running with the Bruces, and a mom of 2 young boys and a baby girl. She just recently competed in the Marathon Olympic Trials 4.5 months postpartum. She is GRIT. She is honest. She is coming to Columbus, Ohio. She is our 2024 Inaugural Mom Day 5k Honorary Race Director and VIP Guest.

If you’re a runner, you’ll want to meet her. If you’re not a runner, you’ll want to meet her. If you’re a mom, you’ll want to meet her. If you’re not a mom, you’ll want to meet her. When women begin uplifting other women, the possibilities are endless.

She founded the energy bar company Picky Bars, lives and trains in Flagstaff, AZ. She has been running professionally for the past decade with many setbacks, and many triumphant moments. She wondered what more is there in running than simply success measured by a number or a place? It's who we become as women, wives, moms, and entrepreneurs striving to be our best. For her it's sharing the journey from start to finish with all the messy in between. It means leaving a mark everywhere she goes in wherever her passion lies. Her passion has been with women. Connecting women and elevating women. Paving a path for others to find their purpose, their mission, their GRIT.

Steph has guided women through postpartum journeys, advised women on starting their own business, saying yes, standing up for yourself, and putting yourself first.

I had the opportunity to meet Steph in 2017 when she competed on the streets of Columbus in the USA Half Marathon Championships. She’s humble, kind and personable and it brings joy to my heart that her soul will shine here in our towns again this May.

More announcements and details soon, but register today because this party is going to ROCK and you’ll walk away feeling GRITTY and ready to take on the world. Mother’s Day 2024 is going to be EPIC. Join us!

Steph Bruce will be making an appearance at SpringFest with Columbus Running Company.

In lieu of awards, we are doing a larger raffle wherein all participants will be entered simply for participating! Not the fastest runner? You still have a chance, we promise! Delicious and healthy baked goods (rumor has it, these will be made by some local women who are super talented!) and some stellar local gift baskets, highlighting Columbus's own talent. Stick around after the race as winners must be present to win!

POEM’s services include:

Peer-to-Peer Support: The certified peer staff at POEM listens and understands like only peers can. You’ll receive a caring and understanding voice, access to specialized counseling, and/or referrals to support services for pregnancy and infant loss.

Mentoring Program: Mentors are moms and birthing persons who’ve been there. They can talk through the challenges of motherhood and offer guidance, emotional support, and helpful information when you need it.

Support Groups: Peer support groups meet regularly, both virtually and in-person when possible, and offer the opportunity to get support from moms and birthing persons with similar experiences.

Rise Support for Black and African American Moms: Rise provides all POEM services exclusively by and for Black mothers and birthing persons, including a providers of color network. We Rise for Black moms because we know that Black women are at a higher risk for maternal depression/anxiety and are less likely to have their symptoms addressed with quality care.
